Government Pushes for Criminal Transfers

The Austrian government is advocating for the transfer of non-EU nationals who have been convicted of crimes to Kosovo to serve their sentences. This proposal seeks to alleviate pressure on Austria's prison system and facilitate the integration of offenders into their home countries.

Austria's Stance on Border Protection

He has requested legal and technical support from the European Commission to strengthen border controls and prevent illegal crossings. The majority of illegal immigrants apprehended in Austria originate from Afghanistan, India, Syria, Tunisia, and Pakistan.
