Helicopter Carrying Iranian President Raisi Crashes

A helicopter carrying Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and his foreign minister crashed in a northern region of the country on Sunday, according to state news agency IRNA. The condition of President Raisi is unclear and rescuers are searching for the helicopter.
The helicopter, part of a convoy carrying senior Iranian officials, reportedly crash-landed in the yard of a shopping mall in the city of Rafsanjan, in Kerman province. Witnesses reported seeing a large plume of smoke rising from the crash site.
Raisi, who has been in office since August 2021, has overseen a crackdown on anti-government protests in recent months. He has faced criticism from Western countries for his government's human rights record.
